Abstract: Comparative analysis of cytogenetic anomaly frequencies in bone marrow cells of Cletrionomys glareolus and Microtus arvalis on the background of high level of radionuclide pollution was carried out. It was revealed that the involvement of different cytogenetic characteristics in variability is species-specific: an increase in leukocytes with micronuclei was typical for M. arvalis, but the increase in chromosome aberration was typical for C. glareolus. Increase of the number of radiation resistant animals in places with high level of radioactive pollution was observed.
